Phonetics and Phonology

The Department of Phonetics and Phonology (Department of Linguistics) at Newcastle University offers a wide range of Ph.D. degrees (PhD, D. Phil, and D.Litt) and postdoctoral research training fellowships. There are two Ph.D.s and two D.Phil.s offered each year, which means that we are always in search of interesting and qualified candidates, who would like to work in linguistics and/or related fields, and who want to study phonetics and phonology. We invite applications from students of all nationalities, but also from students from post-colonial countries with a strong interest in the linguistic and cultural context of the area to which we are connected.
