Genetics/Biochemistry

Aberystwyth University has an excellent Department of Biochemistry and Genetics. Biochemistry is the study of biochemistry, and this is a vital component of the biological sciences. It is a major subject within the field, and is a fundamental part of the BSc (Hons) course in Biology.
The Genetic Biochemistry group is well equipped to provide support for students interested in the genetic basis of disease, including cancer, and is a focal point for research in many areas of genetics and cell biology. Aberystwyth University is also a leading UK centre for the study of the genetics of the social amoeba, Dictyostelium discoidium.
