Women, Violence and Conflict PGCE

The Postgraduate Certificate in Women, Violence and Conflict at the University of York is an innovative program that provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the role of women in conflict settings. The program focuses on topics such as gender-based violence, human rights, peacebuilding, and development within a framework of critical feminist analysis. Students will gain an understanding of how gender inequalities shape social dynamics and processes within violent contexts and how women are affected by war and conflict. The duration of the program is 1 year and includes coursework from a variety of disciplines including sociology, politics, international relations, psychology, anthropology, and gender studies. Graduates from this program will be well equipped to pursue a variety of careers related to women’s rights advocacy or humanitarian aid work.
