Languages (French) and History (with a year abroad) BA (Hons)

The Bachelor of Arts in Languages (French) and History, with a year abroad, at the University of York is an exciting and unique program that combines the study of both French and history with an immersive experience living and studying in a foreign country. This four-year program provides students with a comprehensive education in language, linguistics, and culture while also giving them the opportunity to gain valuable life experience by spending a year abroad in France or another French-speaking country. Students are introduced to various topics such as political history, art history, religious studies, musicology, and literature. The program culminates with a final research project and dissertation based on their experience abroad. Graduates from this program will be well-equipped for careers across multiple industries including teaching; international business; media; tourism; translation & interpretation; or diplomacy. They may also pursue further studies leading towards advanced degrees such as Master's programs allowing them to become experts within their chosen field while making meaningful contributions towards cultural exchange and understanding between peoples
