The Bachelor of Arts in Languages and Cultures (French) and Linguistics at the University of York is an innovative and comprehensive program that combines the study of French language and culture with an exploration of linguistics. This four-year degree provides students with a solid foundation in topics such as grammar, phonology, syntax, and discourse analysis while also giving them the opportunity to improve their fluency in spoken and written French through coursework on literature, translation, or media & communication. In addition to this, students will have the chance to spend up to one year abroad furthering their studies in France or other francophone countries. Graduates from this program will be well-equipped for careers across multiple industries including teaching; research; banking & finance; international trade; consulting services; public administration; hospitality & tourism; or media & communications.
