The Master of Arts in Islamic Arts and Cultures at the University of York is an interdisciplinary program that provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the complex, vibrant, and diverse cultures and art forms associated with Islamic societies. The program features a dynamic curriculum that combines coursework from fields such as history, politics, languages, literature, musicology and visual arts. Students will gain valuable hands-on experience through project-based learning, field trips to important cultural sites across Europe and the Middle East, and research opportunities. Graduates of this program are well prepared for careers in museums, galleries or heritage sites; teaching; media/publishing or university research; or international organizations. This degree also provides excellent preparation towards further studies leading towards advanced degrees such as PhD programs in related fields such as Anthropology, Art History or Museum Studies. With a strong emphasis on connecting theoretical knowledge to practical applications, this program provides students with an opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our understanding of Islamic cultures and their role in contemporary society
