The Bachelor of Arts in Human Geography and Environment at the University of York is an innovative and interdisciplinary program that brings together the principles of geography, environmental science, and human behaviour to understand global challenges. The four-year degree combines theory-based coursework with practical placements and field trips, allowing students to gain a comprehensive understanding of environmental issues and their impact on society. Through hands-on experience, students will develop an understanding of the tools and methods used to survey landscapes, collect data, solve problems, analyse trends, and assess policies. Students will also have the opportunity to take part in a 12 month placement as part of their degree which provides invaluable experience both within industry settings or research institutions. Graduates from this program are well prepared for careers in fields such as conservation & management; policy development; urban planning; or public health & education while making meaningful contributions towards improving global sustainability outcomes.
