The Master of Science in Funerary Archaeology at the University of York is a unique program that provides students with an in-depth understanding of funerary practices from across time, space and cultures. This 12-month program features a comprehensive curriculum that covers topics such as mortuary archaeology, anatomical identification, taphonomy and bioarchaeology. Students will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through fieldwork and laboratory courses, working with human remains in order to gain a deeper understanding of ancient funerary practices. The program is unique in its multidisciplinary approach, combining coursework from anthropology, archaeology and history to provide students with a well-rounded education in this fascinating field. Graduates of the program will be equipped to pursue research or working opportunities within museums, universities or scientific institutions, and will have the skills and knowledge to make meaningful contributions towards furthering our understanding of past societies.
