The University of Portsmouth offers a degree in Pharmacology. Pharmacology is the study of the effects of drugs on the body, and how they affect the health of individuals, including the mechanisms by which they exert these effects. The course will provide an understanding of how drugs work and why they act in the way they do. Students will become familiar with the mechanisms of drug action in the body, as well as the different therapeutic uses for drugs. Students will be trained in the application of pharmacology to the health and disease of humans, animals and plants.
