Teaching English as a Foreign Language (Including Placement Year)

The University of Essex offers a wide range of undergraduate courses in the School of Languages and Cultures and the Department of Teacher Education, Studies and Curriculum Development. Students can choose to study TEFL from the point of entry. The TEFL course provides a comprehensive education in the field of Teaching English as a Foreign Language and its related areas of linguistics and language education. Our courses can be taken individually or as a full-time degree. Both the TESOL: Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and the TESL: Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and TESOL Certificate (Teaching English as a Foreign Language and TESL: Teaching English as a Foreign Language and TESOL Certificate are not taught as a unit, but rather as individual courses that can be taken throughout the degree.)
