Modern Languages and Linguistics

The University of Essex offers two BSc degrees in this subject area. The Bachelor of Social Sciences (Languages and Linguistics) degree allows students to choose to specialise in the language or linguistics. The BSc degree in the subject is not as specific, but allows the student to specialise in a particular area of the language, whether it be literature, linguistics or applied linguistics. The degree provides a generalist and a specialist.
