About
Our core mission at the University of Dundee is to transform lives, locally and globally, through the creation, sharing, and application of knowledge.
We are doing that in all sorts of ways. The teaching we offer forms part of a student experience that is consistently rated among the best in the UK and is producing graduates who are ready to help solve real-world problems and become future leaders across society.
We carry out research that has a real impact on people's lives, here in Scotland and around the world. We are focused on shaping the future through innovative design, promoting the sustainable use of global resources, and improving social, physical, and cultural well-being.
The University of Dundee is a public research university based in Dundee, Scotland. It was founded as a university college in 1881. For most of its early existence, it was a constituent college of the University of St Andrews alongside United College and St Mary's College located in the town of St Andrews itself. After significant expansion, the university gained independent university status by royal charter in 1967 while retaining elements of its ancient heritage and governance structure.
