The Department of Social Anthropology at The University of Edinburgh offers a unique, interdisciplinary course on the Anthropology of Medicine. Students will combine their anthropological skills with their study of Medicine and the medical literature to understand the nature of medical knowledge in a variety of cultural or historical contexts.
Anthropology of Medicine is a graduate level program that focuses on the development of cultural and conceptual knowledge of the medical field. The course examines the medical practice, social organization and history of different societies in different world regions and explores various theoretical and conceptual frameworks to understand the medical field.
