The Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen offers a two-year Master of Science in Social Work program that provides an in-depth exploration of the issues facing individuals, families, and communities in today's society. The program will equip you with the knowledge and skills to become a successful social worker, enabling you to work effectively with individuals, families, and communities in a variety of settings. You will learn about social work theories, practice models, research methods and professional ethics. You will also gain insight into the legal and policy framework that shapes social work practice. In addition, you will develop your understanding of research methods and evidence-based practice. The program is designed to be flexible, enabling you to tailor your studies to meet your individual needs and interests. Expert teaching staff have strong links with local authorities and other agencies, ensuring that the courses reflect current practice. On completion of this program, you will be well-equipped to pursue a career as a professional social worker.
pplicants should hold the equivalent of a 2:2 undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline
Applicants with a lower degree classification and relevant work experience will be considered on a case by case basis
Scottish National Grade 5 or GCSE in Maths grade B or equivalent required. Applicants that do not have this will be offered the University’s numeracy test
Applicants are also required to show evidence of computer literacy for the European Computer Driving Licence. Whilst this is mandatory, this is not a requirement prior to the course starting, rather it is something that we measure throughout the course as students have to access teaching online, submit assignments online and also work with IT systems whilst out on placement.

Applicants whose first language is not English should have an IELTS of 7.0 overall and 7.0 in each element, or an equivalent.
