The archaeology degree at Queen's University Belfast is a unique degree that is not found in many other universities. The degree has been designed with one of two main objectives in mind: either to allow for a degree which is more suited than a BA to those whose interest lies in archaeology, but who lack the academic depth required for a BA degree.
The other main goal is to enable students to develop a broad range of skills that will be valuable once they move into a career in the archaeological or museum sector, and to facilitate their access to other degrees. Thus the degree has been designed to provide students with a broad based introduction to the discipline of archaeology and the archaeological record. However, on the basis of student feedback, the degree aims to provide students with a well-based and balanced program in archaeology, the development of transferable skills, and the opportunity to gain a sound academic foundation.
