The Film Studies degree at Lancaster University is designed to equip you with the tools you need to enter the world of film. The degree is taught on campus and takes two years to complete. In the first year you will study the general principles of film and will develop the skills you need for a career in the film industry. You will work alongside established filmmakers and work on small scale projects where you will be involved in the entire production process. You will be assigned a placement year in which you will help develop a film and will be employed in the production office of a film studio.
The second year will consist of a dissertation which you will need to complete and submit to the university before graduating. The year will be spent on a film project that you have chosen and which will be supervised by a team of academics.
