Are children's perspectives of the world shaped by their upbringing and environment? How do definitions of childhood differ across cultures and history? Our MA Social Sciences (International Childhood) course offers a comprehensive exploration of these questions, and will broaden your understanding of childhood and the experiences of children across the globe.
You'll study a range of compulsory and optional modules through blended learning, examining topics such as child mental health, social relationships, and the experiences of children in national and international migration. Through developing your critical analysis skills, and mastering social science research methods, you'll gain the tools to carry out a substantial independent research project.
As an additional opportunity, you can choose to participate in an international field trip to gain fresh perspectives on childhood experiences in different cultural contexts. Alternatively, you can apply what you've learned during a work placement. This course is ideal for those who work with children, including teachers and recent graduates seeking to enhance their skills and knowledge.
