Secondary English with QTS (11-16) PGCE

If you hold a degree in a related subject, training to teach English at the secondary school level through our PGCE course could be the perfect step for you. Our experienced tutors will guide you through the course, helping you reflect on your teaching philosophy, develop analytical skills, and expand your subject expertise. With plenty of practical experience in planning lessons and using interactive teaching methods, such as drama and ICT, you'll be confident in the classroom in no time.

You'll spend up to 26 weeks on placement in a secondary school, where you'll gradually take on more responsibility and gain hands-on experience with the support of your English tutor and school-based mentor. Upon successful completion of the program, you'll be recommended for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). And if you need to enhance your subject knowledge, our free subject knowledge enhancement course will prepare you to teach the conceptual and applied aspects of English effectively to learners aged 11-16 years.
