• University of Sheffield are member of the White Rose University Consortium, a strategic partnership between the leading universities of Sheffield, Leeds, and York. Since its creation in 1997, White Rose has secured more than £100 million into universities.

  The University's history stretches back to 1828 when the Sheffield School of Medicine was founded, and our University Charter was granted in 1905.

  The University of Sheffield has a long and proud history, dating back to the founding of Sheffield Medical School in 1828. Sheffield Technical School and Firth College followed in 1879 and 1884 respectively, and the three institutions were amalgamated to form the University College of Sheffield in 1897. The university was granted a royal charter by King Edward VII in 1905. Today, Sheffield is a world-renowned public research university, renowned for its high-quality teaching and research. Located in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, the university is home to over 26,000 students from more than 100 countries around the world.
